Opera is an art form unlike any other—a

fusion of the best of all of the performing

arts—with the power to thrill and move

you.

I’m excited to share Lyric’s 2017/18

season, filled with wonders that you can only

experience in the opera house.

We open with a new production of

Orphée

et Eurydice

, our first collaboration with The

Joffrey Ballet.

A passionate melding of

music, drama, and dance

, this beautiful work

will unfold through glorious song and inspiring

ballet. It’s sure to be a much-anticipated high

point of Chicago’s cultural season.

Prepare for

the scale and spectacle that only

opera can deliver

when a new production of

Die Walküre

, the second opera in our critically-

acclaimed new

Ring

cycle, takes the stage.

Later in the season, Puccini’s

Turandot

returns

for the first time in more than a decade in a

grand, new-to-Chicago production.

You'll hear

singing that will astound you

with

its strength, agility, and beauty.

Whether you join us for a journey to the exotic

shores of Ceylon in

The Pearl Fishers

or the

decadent court of Mantua in

Rigoletto

,

your

time at Lyric is a chance to be transported

from your daily routine through the power of

music and theater.

Please join us. We look forward to sharing our

magnificent new season with you.
