MORE MOUTON? YES PLEASE!
T
he large format bottles of this First Growth make for an
astounding tasting opportunity
as the aging process is far
more graceful than in the classic 750 ml. The
1996
shines with its
intensely dark hue and an ample nose of extraordinary substance,
bringing to mind spiced prune, caramel, hazelnut and espresso.
The palate, with its multiple dimension, boasts of toasted vanilla,
jammy dark plum and black currants. The tannins are compact
and integrated promising to age for quite some time. The
2006
presents more powerfully with deep flavors of roasted coffee,
cassis, smoky oak, and soy sauce. It’s ripe and rich with a lovely
full-body that also can lay down for a decade or two.
