AHHHHH, BURGUNDY. A LITTLE GEOGRAPHY.
C
hevalier-Montrachet Les Demoiselles is located to the south
of the Côte de Beaune, at the summit of the slope where the
world-renowned villages of Puligny-Montrachet and Chassagne-
Montrachet converge, but on the Puligny commune, just above
Le Montrachet. It’s
un acre petit
, measuring in at only 1.28 acre,
but we are in Burgundy after all. The chalky subsoil here drains
perfectly, producing some of the loveliest Chardonnay grapes
anywhere.
Lovers of white burgundy, this is your time to bid.
This Grand
Cru wine is aged 15-18 months in oak barrels before bottling.
Former Honored Guest Pierre Henry Gagey says that this
vinification highlights the unique qualities inherent in the fruit
of this great vineyard. Its bright, golden colour and penetrating
fragrance of toast and honey predict the rich, mellow fruit flavors,
velvety elegance and intense finish of this exceptional wine, which
overflows with grace and elegance.
