HONEY, IS THIS THE ‘82 OR THE ‘95?
C
hâteau Haut-Brion wines have an unmistakable nobility
and a burgeoning complexity. This 1995 is majestic and still
drinking young with a harmony between the very soft and very fine
structure.
Wine Journal
with Neal Martin likens it to the “lovely
1982.” One can enjoy it now but there are still mostly primary
flavours here with only hints of the cigar, leather and sweet spices
that dominate Haut-Brion’s mature wines. Tannins are velvety and
supple with flavours that linger for a long time on the finish. It has
great charm, and Robert Parker praises the brilliant winemaker
Jean-Bernard Delmas for his handling of the vintage. Drink one
now, and every year for the next 11 years. Sounds like a good plan
to us, but we’re not sure we could be that patient.
