THIS LOVELY LOT OF FAVORITE WINES IS
OFFERED BY THREE MEMBERS OF THE LYRIC
WOMEN’S BOARD!
C
hâteau Gruaud Larose
dates back to 1725, this winery is
among the most renowned of Bordeaux. That’s why we
invited David Launay to be our Honored Guest! This 82-hectare
vineyard sits atop ancient Garonne gravel. In the
2000
vintage,
you’ll find notes of new saddle leather, cedar wood, black
currants, cherries, licorice, and Provencal herbs. A fantastic effort
which is beautiful in the glass and on the palate.
Located in the North Western area of Saint-Émilion, on the edge
of Pomerol,
Château Cheval Blanc
is distinguished by a rocky and
sandy ground situated on a fertile terrace, instead of a limestone
hill. This
1986
double magnum carries a complex nose, marked by
the finesses of Cabernet Franc. Notes of ink, fruit, mint leaf, and
tobacco bring out a supple mouthfeel with fresh tannins. Aging
has benefitted this wine, and will continue to do so.
Generously contributed by
Mrs. Richard W. Durkes,
Mrs. Christopher C. Milliken and
Mrs. Theodore D. Tieken
