POMEROL , BORDEAUX.
This beautiful effort from Vieux Château Certan represents
this fine estate’s care to the art of winemaking. One of the
oldest vineyards in the region, Vieux Château Certan has been
recognized as among the great growths of Pomerol. With a viscous
texture as well as a freshness and vibrancy, the 2009 is one of the
finest Vieux Château Certans has made, scoring either 99 or
100 points depending on who you ask. It is full-bodied and rich
with ripe blackberry, plum, floral, chocolate and spice aromas.
The texture can be pure silk and velvet, and while effortless to
drink, it is still complex.
The prestigious Château Clinet is situated in the heart of the best
parcels on the well-known gravel terraces of Gunz. Emphasized
by flavors of red fruit, leaving no doubt that it is a Pomerol, the
elegance of these 2009 bottles respects the uniqueness of its
terroir. It is a big Pomerol, boasting opaque purple color to
accompany the perfume of blueberry pie, incense, truffles, black
raspberries, licorice and wood smoke. This wine is undoubtedly
deserving of the 100-point score bestowed upon it by Robert
Parker. You can look forward to this Château Clinet aging
very well, while developing sensuous textures and aromatic
complexities.
